What happened to Rebecca Nurse?

Research Summary:
After looking up Rebecca Nurse, one of the most interesting facts that I learned is that she was one of three daughters from her father William Towne, of Yarmouth, all of which were all accused of witchcraft. Her sister Mary was accused and killed, while her sister Sarah Cloyce was just simply accused. Nurse was one of the “unlikely” witches to be accused. During Rebecca Nurse’s trial she was 71 years old and had trouble hearing. With a completely unblemished record it was evidence to the fact that Nurse was not a witch. In fact, thirty-two of the more prominent members of the community signed a petition on Nurse’s behalf. When afflicted girls would blame her of being a witch she would just look at the sky and say, “I have got nobody to look to but God." Which after she said this, the girls would instantly say she was tormenting them.
After her trial on June 30th, the jury came back after a long while with the verdict of not guilty. When that was announced a tremendous uproar came from both the spectators and the afflicted girls, after a second meeting the jury than came back with the verdict of guilty for Rebecca Nurse. Back in the late 1600’s it was not uncommon for a jury to be asked to make a second verdict. On July 3rd Rebecca Nurse was excommunicated from her church in her Salem Town due to her conviction in Witchcraft.

Annotation:
The website I used gave very sufficient information to the life of Rebecca Nurse. It helped me through my entire summary and even gave more information than I used in my summary. It gave information from when she was a child until when she was an elderly woman that was up for trial for witchcraft. This website also gives much information about her whole family and their history. This website was very well organized info for this topic.
